Said Salim Bakhresa founded and chairs the Bakhresa Group, a Tanzanian
conglomerate that employs over 2,000 people and has interests in grain
milling, beverages, packaging, ferry services and petroleum trading. The
group also manufactures the Azam brand of chocolates and ice cream,
which is popular in the East African region. His three sons manage the
company. Bakhresa stopped school at age 14 to sell potato mix, then opened a small restaurant and later moved into grain milling.
